Subject: Re: [Devel] [PATCH hci-8.1] ms/um: Set parent death signal for userspace process
Date: Thu, 29 Oct 2026 17:58:57 +0100 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <13b8178d-be99-4ebf-a744-73a58a187add@virtuozzo.com> (raw)

- The rebase note is misleading: "as mainline does for the winch
thread". In vz10 the winch thread does not use this helper either,
because 42b8b00c8ab1a ("um: Use os_set_pdeathsig helper in winch
thread/process") is not backported.
- To fix it, either:
- send 4e5adbe447db3 ("um: Add os_set_pdeathsig helper function") as
a prerequisite patch (git apply --check on our base is clean), or
- call prctl(PR_SET_PDEATHSIG, SIGKILL) directly, as upstream does in
its stub_exe.c.
