Subject: [Devel] [PATCH hci-8.1 v2 5/6] configs: turn off module-only subsystems in the User Mode Linux config
Date: Mon, 26 Oct 2026 23:34:23 +0100	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <20261026-b4-prep-khorenko-vstor-143636-uml-config-v2-5-76c8329592af@virtuozzo.com> (raw)
In-Reply-To: <20261026-b4-prep-khorenko-vstor-143636-uml-config-v2-0-76c8329592af@virtuozzo.com>

A KUnit test can be built in only if what it depends on is. Where our
kernel ships that as a module only, the test stays a module in the um
config as well, and UML loads no modules, so it never runs.

Such a test cannot be turned off itself under KUNIT_ALL_TESTS, as it
hides its prompt, but its subsystem can, and a module is of no use in
UML anyway. Turn off:

- CFG80211, with mac80211 and iwlwifi
- DRM_XE and DRM_VKMS
- HID_UCLOGIC
- HSR
- RPCSEC_GSS_KRB5, and NFSD, whose NFSD_V4 selects it

Their tests stay with the modules mode of the hci-kunit test on the
real kernel, except DRM_XE_KUNIT_TEST, which our kernel does not build.
No KUnit test is left a module in UML, and the next commit checks that
at build time.
