[Devel] [PATCH hci-8.1 v3 0/3] dm-qcow2: truncate unused tail of image on suspend

On postsuspend dm-qcow2 truncates the image file only down to
file_preallocated_area_start, so clusters at the end of the file freed
by discard are never given back and the file never shrinks.

This series makes postsuspend scan the refcount blocks backward and
truncate the file to the end of the last used cluster.

Patch 1 adds qcow2_md_page_read_sync() helper, which is needed by the
scan. Patch 2 is a small cleanup of duplicate prefixes in QC_ERR/QC_INFO
messages. Patch 3 does the actual truncation.

  instead of min(file_preallocated_area_start, used end).

or allocates a new one, inserts it and reads it synchronously.
On read failure the page is erased from cache and freed.

Use it in qcow2_parse_header() instead of open-coded allocation
and read of page 0. It will also be used by the next patch.

The comment on qcow2_md_page_read_sync() says it returns
an up-to-date page, but that depends on no read being in flight.
If a page is cached but not MD_UPTODATE,
qcow2_md_page_find_or_postpone() returns NULL and the insert
that follows fails.

This can't happen on a suspended device, but
the comment should state the assumption.

On postsuspend we truncate the image file only down to
file_preallocated_area_start, i.e. we drop preallocations only.
Clusters at the end of the file freed by discard (refcount dropped
to zero) are never given back, so the file size never shrinks.

Add qcow2_calc_used_end(), which scans refcount blocks backward from
file_preallocated_area_start and returns the end of the last cluster
with non-zero refcount. Refcount ranges with no allocated refblock
are skipped at once. Metadata pages are taken from md cache or read
synchronously. This is called on suspended device after md writeback,
so R1 and R2 can't change under us.

Truncate the file to the used end. Skip the scan if md writeback
failed, as refcounts on disk are stale then, and fall back to the old
behaviour on scan error.

Please say in the cover letter or the commit message that
close and the RO reload also go through postsuspend, so
readers don't have to work it out.
