Subject: [Devel] [PATCH hci-8.1 v2 5/6] timens: keep the option off where the vDSO updates its own time data
Date: Mon, 19 Oct 2026 03:05:57 +0300	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <20261019000649.1371025-6-eva.kurchatova@virtuozzo.com> (raw)
In-Reply-To: <20261019000649.1371025-1-eva.kurchatova@virtuozzo.com>

Mainline moved sparc to the generic vDSO library in 7c5fc16c7a56
("sparc64: vdso: Switch to the generic vDSO library") before it let
TIME_NS go without the vDSO; this kernel has not, and its sparc vDSO
knows nothing of the offsets, so a task in a time namespace would read
host time from it and namespace time from the syscall. Keep the option
off where a vDSO updates its own time data without the generic library,
sparc here. x86_64 and arm64 keep it, and User Mode Linux, which has no
such vDSO, gets it.
